FAQ'S ABOUT MEENAKSHI TEMPLE

Meenakshi Temple is open daily from
5 am to until 10 p.m., except for when it closes between 12.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. This is because Hindu scriptures specify that an abode of Lord Shiva must not remain open in the afternoon. It's best to visit the temple once in the morning or in the Evening and once in the night (for the night ceremony).

  1. Devotees/tourists leave the foot wear at the entrance of the temple.
  2. All kind of electronic items not allowed to carry into the temple.
  3. Water, Small size of bags, Small Wallets are allowed to carry into the temple.
  4. Photography/videography is prohibited inside the temple premises. So, kindly Leave hand bags/photo & Video cameras/torch lights/pen knives/scissors at the lockers.
  5. Locker Facilities are available at the entrances of the temple.

  1. All kind of dresses are allowed to wear to get into the temple/ Darshan.
  2. Sleeveless top/Shirt, Half Trouser not allowed to wear into the temple

There is NO FEE FOR DARSHAN in Meenakshi temple and if the devotees not able to wait long time in the queue and there is a fast darshan lane (50 rupees per person) for one temple 100 rupees for both temples.

Mobile phones, camera and all kind of Electronic items are not allowed to carry inside the temple. Lockers are available outside the temple premises.

Yes , there is cloak room outside the Meenakshi Temple. They charge little 02 INR for each luggage. You can keep mobile and luggage over there and take the slip which would be required while collecting of luggage.

Yes, the driving distance between Madurai Airport (IXM) to Meenakshi Temple is 12 km. It takes approximately 20 minutes to 30 minutes to drive from Madurai Airport (IXM) to Meenakshi Temple.

If the tickets are not available in online , devotees ask to done the booking through the offline mode.
